1.  Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose

Mission San Jose Chapel Windows located in San Jose, California
    a.  Saint Dominic de Guzman

St. Dominic is presented with his traditional sheaf of lilies, symbolic of purity of heart.  The orb in the field represents the world, for whose salvation Dominic instituted the Friars Preachers.  The base of the panel depicts a black and white dog carrying a torch.  This symbol appeared in a dream to Dominic's mother before her son's birth and was interpreted to mean that this faithful "dog of the Lord," in his black and white vesture, would some day illuminate the world.

    b.  Saint Catherine of Siena

Catherine holds in her left hand a book symbolic of her mystical writings.  On the book is the text: "Place Me As A Seal Upon Thy Heart."  About the saint's brow is a crown of thorns, symbol both of her mortification and penance, and of the impression of the stigmata which she received from Christ.  In the base of the panel is a white dove, typifying the peace which Catherine's labor and suffering restored to the Church.
