TOUCHING THE DIVINE
Michele Kopp, OP
This
issue of the Edmonds Dominican features our artists and our retired
sisters, our “power pray-ers” who live at Assumption Convent. The common
thread of their preaching is to invite us into the creative act of being. Our
artists and our sisters who “pray for others” as their ministry, have opened
themselves to the fertile ground of “being”. They have honed skills to see
in depth, to listen with attention and to embrace life without a desire to
possess.
The creative expressions of our artists are birthed through stillness, word and sound, color and design, earth and fabric. These expressions amaze us, comfort us, unsettle and disturb us, nourish and transform us. Through them we know of the peoples and cultures with whom they minister. We experience the passion with which they share the creative process with others. We delight in their efforts to bring opportunities for artistic expression to the marginalized. We hear them preach the importance of artistic expression in all of our lives to bring more balance and fullness of life. (Continued next page)
